I took measurements for my nearly 5 month old fox terrier puppy and picked size medium, also relying on the claim that they were sized to be generous to allow for movement. This size would barely have fitted him snugly let along allowed him to move about inside. If in doubt I advise to pick the next size up.
Just took a photo after a muddy walk he looks really happy in it :-)
Really pleased wanted something to cover his legs too as they’re very fluffy and hold lots of water. Looks nice and warm and he didn’t mind getting in. It’s good it will keep all the mess in one place as he can’t then charge around the house soaking everything,
There’s nothing then left to do after the showering Shenanigans than to relax in his cosy bag and dry off.
Bought XL he’s a double doodle (golden retriever, Labrador and standard poodle cross) so he’s a Labrador kind of size. Fits well.
I got this for our American Cocker Spaniel as she has a long, thick coat that can stay damp for hours even after a run out in the garden. She wasn’t too keen but our intention is to use it in the car when she’s been out for a walk, so she’s warm and getting dry on the way home.
Anyway the younger of our two Cavs saw it and wanted ‘a go’. As you can see he loves it, so I’ve ordered one for each of them too.
They’re thick enough without being so thick that they don’t absorb. The zip is long and very strong, it doesn’t catch in the dog’s coat at all. The adjustable Velcro neck piece helps to keep the bag in place and it’s soft and well padded. The rings to attach in the car are nice and strong, the whole thing looks and feels well made.
The sizing is a little bit odd, I’d say ignore the breed recommendations and measure your dog properly. Our 10kg (ish) smaller two dogs need a medium and the 14kg Cav needs a Large.
They’re good value, let them fluff up from being vacuum packed and ideally wash them as this one had a really unpleasant fishy odour which I think must have been in the dye.
Love it. Love the chunky zip ( that's where a previous towel from a different brand broke). Think we went slightly too big for our sprocker (we went large) but it still does the job perfectly. Great after a muddy walk to contain everything then just shake it out once everything/one is dry.
I've always had Labradors but for complicated reasons ended up with a tiny little Cocker Spaniel. She loves going for walks, but she's so small that the fur on her belly gets filthy when she goes out. She's a really small dog: about the same size as the cat.
If we go for a walk and it's been raining (this is Lancashire, so it happens a lot) then she needs to have all the mud rinsed off her paws and undercarriage when we get home. My wife bought a towel bag for her, and it was fine, except that the zip failed after a week or two. Trying to get a tiny, wriggling Cocker into a towel bag does put a strain on the zip.
So, I bought one of these, and reasoning that she's probably in the running for the title of Smallest Dog in the World, I ordered the small size. It was too small for her. I'd say that it was made for something the size of a large rat.
Now that we have a bigger one, the little dog can be zipped into it for five minutes after her post-walk rinsing and she's more-or-less dry. Which is good, because her hobbies are smelling things, putting up birds, and jumping onto folks' laps to have her tummy tickled; no-one wants a wet dog jumping all over them.
So far, the zip has proved to be robust and the dog seems quite accepting of the drying process. Just don't buy the small size unless you're going to use it for a hamster.
